What You Need to Consider with Outdoor and Indoor Weddings

Ensure that you choose the right place for your wedding. Here are things to consider when choosing an outdoor or indoor wedding venue.

If you are planning to get married and want a beautiful wedding, then you must choose the right place for your wedding.

The venue might be one of the most important aspects of your wedding because it will affect how everything else will turn out. You need to make sure that the place where you will hold your wedding fits what you want in terms of ambiance and style.

You must ensure that you choose the right place for your wedding. You don’t want to spend so much time and money on a venue only to find out later that it isn’t what you expected.

Here are some things that you need to consider when choosing an outdoor or indoor wedding venue.

1) The Weather

The weather is the first thing you should consider when choosing an outdoor or indoor wedding venue. The weather can be unpredictable, and you need to make sure that your guests will be comfortable during the ceremony.

Indoor Venue: If you choose an indoor venue for your wedding, it will be easier to control the temperature.

Outdoor Venue: You need to be prepared for unpredictable weather. You will also need to find a venue that has a backup plan in case of inclement weather.

2) The Space

Before you choose a venue, make sure that its space is adequate for your guest list. You need to know how many people can fit inside the venue comfortably.

Indoor Venue: Some indoor facilities can only accommodate limited guests due to space limitations.

Outdoor Venue: On outdoor, on the other hand, you can have more guests because of the open space.

3) Decorations

When deciding on a venue for your wedding, think about the decorations you want to use. You will need to find a venue that can accommodate any type of decoration that you want.

Indoor Venue: If you have a specific theme for your wedding, then it would be best to choose an indoor venue, so there’s no chance of rain ruining your outdoor decorations.

Outdoor Venue: On the other hand, outdoor venues don’t allow much room for decor. But the advantage is that the venue itself can be used as decoration.

4) Photography and Video Opportunities

Photos and videos are some of the most important parts of a wedding. It’s your chance to capture all the special moments and memories in your life, so you want to ensure that the venues are conducive to good photos and videos.

Indoor Venue: If you choose an indoor venue, opt for one with plenty of different areas with unique characteristics so that your photos will look different from each other.

Outdoor Venue: If you choose an outdoor facility, look for one with lots of natural scenery to include in your pictures and video. If you want to get creative with your wedding documentation, choose a venue with plenty of different areas so your photographer can have options when it comes time to edit.

Conclusion

Your wedding is one of the most important events in your life. You must ensure that you choose the right place for your wedding. The venue should fit what you want and need. You don’t want to spend so much time and money on a venue only to find out later that it isn’t what you expected.

Tin Roof Barn Venue Information and Rental Details

Q: How many people can this location accommodate?

150 total, excluding lap children or babies.

Q: What is the rental fee and what is included in that price?

You'll have to submit an inquiry on our website to get the most up to date inventory and pricing.

Click Here for the contact page at Tin Roof Barn.

Q: How much is the deposit, when is it due, and is it refundable?

We require 50% up front and the other half is due midway between booking and your event.  It is refundable if your date is booked by another couple. We always HIGHLY recommend investing in cancelation insurance which will cover all vendor deposits should they need to cancel.

Q: Can couples use the venue for… Bride & Groom Prep, Ceremony & Reception?

Yes

Q: Is the site handicap accessible?

Yes

Q: What's the cancellation policy?

If your date is rebooked, the deposit is refundable, otherwise it is not.

Q: What's your weather contingency plan for outdoor spaces?

We have a pavilion for the ceremony in the event of inclement weather.

Q: How long will I have use of the event space I reserve? Is there an overtime fee if I stay longer? Is there a minimum or maximum rental time?

Event hours are 12pm-10pm and 10pm-10:30pm for cleanup and guest departure.  We do not allow overtime.  For those couples that want to keep their party going, we have several suggestions for fantastic after party locations.

Q: Can I move things around and decorate to suit my purposes, or do I have to leave everything as is? Are there decoration guidelines/restrictions? Can I use real candles?

The venue is "as is." We have multiple guidelines as far as decorations and what can be used. Unfortunately, fire is a big issue in this area, so we do not allow flame of any sort with the exception of in our designated smoking area.

Q: Is there an outdoor space where my guests can mingle, and can it be heated and/or protected from the elements if necessary? Is there a separate indoor "socializing" space?

The barn courtyard is the best outdoor entertaining space, but we also have the pavilion which most couples use for cocktail hour entertainment.  We do allow propane patio heaters in the barn as well as swamp coolers if it's going to be a hot one.

Q: Do you have an in-house caterer or a list of "preferred" caterers, or do I need to provide my own? If there is an in-house caterer, do I have the option of using an outside caterer instead?

We have a preferred list, but allow other caterers as well.  The stipulation is that all catering must be full service - no DIY catering allowed.

Q: If couples do hire their own caterer, are kitchen facilities available for them?

We have a catering room for food prep and cleanup, but not a licensed kitchen.  Most caterers will come prepared or grill outdoors if needed.

Q: Are tables, linens, chairs, plates, silverware, and glassware provided, or will I have to rent them myself or get them through my caterer?

We provide ceremony chairs, dining table and chairs, and indoor and outdoor furnishings.  We also have a collection of mismatch tableware, but in some cases it is included, and in others it would have to be rented.

Q: Can I bring my own wine, beer or champagne, and is there a corkage fee if I do? Can I bring in other alcohol?

We allow wine, beer, and champagne at all times - and 2 signature drinks (containing hard alcohol) during cocktail hour.

Q: Are you licensed to provide alcohol service? If so, is alcohol priced per person? By consumption? Are there additional charges for bar staff? Is there a bar minimum that must be met before the conclusion of the event?

We do not have a liquor license so couples are responsible for the alcohol service.  We do require a licensed bartender and a WA state Banquet Permit.

Q: Are there restrictions on what kind of music couples can play, or a time by which the music must end? Can the venue accommodate a DJ or live band?

We allow live bands during the ceremony and cocktail hour only.  We don't have a restriction on what type of music can be played, but music ends at 10pm.

Q: Does the venue have an in-house audio visual system?

We have an in-house speaker system, but no visual.

Q: Is there parking on site?

We have parking for 75 vehicles and like to recommend group transportation.  Our amazing coordinators at Union Event Co are happy to help set that up.

Q: How many restrooms are there?

We have a new restroom facility that is located steps from the barn.

Q: Do you offer on-site coordination? If so, what services are included and is there an additional charge for them?

We require "Wedding Day Management" through Union Event Co -this is a separate charge.

Q: Does the venue have liability insurance and/or do the couples need to get event insurance?

Tin Roof Barn does have liability coverage, but we require all events be covered with private event insurance as well. You can get insurance for your wedding at Wed Safe.

Q: Can couples hire their own vendors (caterer, coordinator, DJ, etc.), or must they select from a preferred vendor list?

Both... coordination through Union Event Co is required, the others are up to the couple to choose.

Q: Do you offer overnight accommodations? What are the nearest hotels to the venue?

We do not have overnight accommodations at Tin Roof Barn. Most people stay in Hood River which is only about 15 minutes from the venue. There are plenty of hotels, restaurants, wineries, breweries, and shops to keep all guests happy and entertained.

Q: Do you have signage or other aids to direct guests to my event?

We have a sign at the entrance, but the venue is easily found through Google maps.
